From Rough Shaping to Mirror-like Polish
The CabKing comes ready with a complete lineup of diamond wheels — each one plays a crucial role in shaping and polishing your stones.
80-Grit Wheel — Rough Shaping
This coarse wheel is where it all begins. Use the 80-grit diamond wheel to quickly remove material, shape your stone, and establish the general outline of your cabochon. It’s perfect for taking down high spots and defining the dome.
220-Grit Wheel — Fine Shaping
Once your shape is in place, move to the 220-grit wheel. This medium-coarse wheel smooths out the deep scratches left by the 80-grit, refines your dome, and starts prepping the stone for sanding.
280-Grit Soft Resin Wheel — Initial Sanding
The 280-grit resin wheel begins the sanding process. It removes the last of the visible flat spots and large scratches, while the softer resin bond helps the wheel conform to the stone’s shape for a smoother finish.
600-Grit Soft Resin Wheel — Smoothing
At this stage, your stone should start to show a satin sheen. The 600-grit wheel further smooths the surface and eliminates smaller scratches, setting you up for pre-polish.
1,200-Grit Soft Resin Wheel — Pre-Polish
Here’s where the magic starts to happen. The 1,200-grit wheel brings your stone close to its final finish, removing microscopic scratches and preparing the surface for a mirror-bright polish.
3,000-Grit Soft Resin Wheel — Ultra-Fine Pre-Polish
This extra-fine wheel gives you a silky, glass-like surface before your final polish stage. Many stones already look great here, but for the highest shine, move to a polishing pad or compound.
